Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination
A higher level of support for participants whose situations are more complex and who need specialist support.
Big Ability offers Specialist Support Coordination to assist participants and families to manage challenges in their life and ensure a consistent delivery of service.
Qualified with a Masters of Criminology, Certificate of Mental health first aid, previous experience working as a paralegal and in corrections, Big Ability also offers Specialist Coordination for Forensic Participants

Level 2 Coordination of Supports is designed to help put into place a mix of supports to increase a participant's capacity to maintain relationships, manage tasks, live more independently and be included in their community.

SDA
Specialist disability accommodation (SDA) is a range of housing designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.

SIL
Supported Independent Living or SIL is a NDIS support that helps you live independently in your own home, whether you are living in group accommodation, a private rental, with your family, or in your own property.
Big Ability specialises in SIL and SDA applications- having successfully helped many participants apply, find and transition into their forever home.
Where to Start?
SIL/SDA applications require the completion of Home and Living Application Form.
The SIL and SDA application will also require engagement and in depth reports with your allied health- Occupational therapist/ Physiotherapist in order to help complete assessments required within the Home and Living Form available on the NDIS website.

Aged Care
NDIS and participants residing in aged care require expertise guidance on navigating both the aged care and NDIS scheme


Younger People in Residential Aged Care (YIPRAC)
For participants under 65 years of age on the NDIS, the Australian government recognises that the aged care system is not designed to provide support to younger people under the age of 65. The YIPRAC team sits internally within NDIS and is designed to help assist the governments pledge to reduce the amount of younger people residing in aged care facilities.
Transitioning from Aged Care
Transitioning from Aged Care to suitable accommodation requires expert guidance, assistance with helping find and secure the right accommodation to best suit the care needs of the participant and family.
Big Ability provides assistance in liaising with the suitable Supported Independent living (SIL) providers, Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA) applications along with collaboration with the YIPRAC team to successfully transition to suitable accommodation.

The National Disability Insurance Act 2013 provides guidance around what will and won't fund. For participants residing within Aged Care facilities there needs to be expert and hands on guidance on navigating both.

Review of Reviewable Decision
If you have a plan decision outcome that you are not happy with, you have avenues to appeal your decision. Depending on the decision one avenue is submitting a Review of a Reviewable Decision or S100.
Administration Reviews Tribunal (ART)
Formerly known as the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the ART are a tribunal which sits outside of NDIS and enable participants to have their NDIS decision reviewed by an independent party (the tribunal).
If you have received a decision you don't agree with, the ART have the ability to review most internal review decisions made by the NDIA under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (NDIS act)
Sometimes peoples NDIS plans no longer meet their needs and as a result they require a Plan Re-assessment. The NDIS legislation changes have meant there are now rules around what NDIS will and won't reassess and there are rules around when and how you can get changes to your plan.

Change of Circumstances/Situation
A change of Circumstances/Situation is normally completed to inform NDIS of changes to your living situation, physical capacity, carers or support needs. There are no time limits around when this can be submitted however there must be sufficient evidence included to demonstrate to NDIS that these changes have occured.
